Education

B.A. Physics B.S. Biological Systems Engineering B.S Clinical Neuroscience I'm a Translational Biology, Medicine, and Health PhD student at Virginia Tech, studying the immune response to traumatic brain injury. I graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2018 with Bachelors degrees in Physics, Biological Systems Engineering, and Neuroscience and minors in Chemistry and Biomedical Engineering. Due to time limitations this year, I'm currently taking PHYS 2205 or high school students only for Fall 2019.

Experience

** To adhere with state regulations, all tutoring is currently being conducted via Zoom, effective March 2020 ** I previously tutored Virginia Tech D1 Athletes in physics and biology. Since then, I've tutored nearly 50 other students, from middle school through undergrad. Many of my students continue working with me in other subjects for several semesters, and I've received a number of referrals from previous students. I focus on teaching the concepts and ways to approach a problem, not just getting the right numeric answer. I also realize that while I love the subjects I tutor, not everyone does, so I try to help students view the material in light of what they do like and understand. Though physics is my favorite course to tutor, I have experience with a variety of topics and am always willing to try something new. However, I do NOT tutor any chemistry courses. Courses I have the most experience with: - PHYS 2205/2206 (general physics) - PHYS 2305/2306 (foundations of physics) - Middle school and high school math - Intro Biology I'm more than happy to discuss my teaching philosophy in greater detail or provide references!

Hobbies

My PhD is in neuroscience; specifically, I'm studying the innate immune response to traumatic brain injury (TBI). In my free time, I competitively power lift and do a bit of personal training with an emphasis on strength-building. It's a great stress reliever! I also love the outdoors and really enjoy hiking. I have a super cute dog named Lucy.
